Eco policy Reggae Geel 2022

As always, we at Reggae Geel are working hard on our ecological policy. For the 2022 edition, we would like to list these important actions:

ACTION 1: CASHLESS PAYMENT

As a visitor, you will be given a festival bracelet which you can use to upload money via Payconiq. You can do this in advance via the website, via a QR code, or at the voucher stand.

From now on, we only work with a cashless system, without coupons or cash.

So be sure to bring your debet card. Or install Payconiq and a QR code scanner on your mobile phone.

ACTION 2: USE THE ECOCOIN

Step 1: When you scan your ticket at the campsite or on the festival site, you will receive an ecocoin.

Step 2: Go to the bar and order a drink with your ecocoin and euros that you charge on your festival wristband.

Step 3: For your next drinks, there are 3 options at the bar:

  • Option 1: Ecocoin + value of drink = consumption in disposable cup/empty PET bottle/can
  • Option 2: Empty cup/PET bottle/can + drink value = consumption in disposable cup or PET bottle
  • Option 3: 2 euros + value of drink = consumption in disposable cup or PET bottle or can

We ask everyone to always exchange an ecocoin, empty cup or PET bottle with the value of a drink for a NEW consumption. Without ecocoin, cup or bottle you always pay 2 euros extra.

Don't want to walk around with an empty cup? Then you can always exchange it at the counters for an ecocoin that easily fits in your wallet.

At the end of the festival, you can also exchange your cup at the counters for an ecocoin. You can continue to use it as a shopping token.

The ecocoin has no financial value. You will not receive 2 euros for an empty cup or ecocoin. However, you do pay 2 euros extra if you are unable to present a cup/pond bottle or ecocoin at the counter.

ACTION 3: USE THE WASTE BINS ON THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS, ACCESS ROADS AND CAMPING GROUNDS: SEPARATE PET AND RESIDUAL WASTE

There are two types of waste bins on the festival grounds: residual waste and PET

  1. Residual waste: napkins, food waste, residual waste that must not go into the PET
  2. PET: plastic cutlery and plates from the food stands

BEKERS, PET bottles, CANS should not be thrown in the PET container but used at the counter for the next drink or collected again for an ECOCOIN.

DO NOT THROW RUBBISH ON THE GROUND

ACTION 4: ASK YOUR QUESTIONS TO OUR ECOCREW

Questions about the new system? Need to find your way around the festival about waste, ecology, etc.? Ask the eco staff at the festival site, the campsite, the collection point at the campsite, ... You can recognise them by their “ECO” T-shirts.

ACTIE 5: NO GLASS AT REGGAE GEEL

Do not bring glass to Reggae Geel, it is not allowed at the festival.

ACTION 6: KEEP THE STREETS & THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS CLEAN

Do not throw rubbish on the festival grounds, streets and public roads! Reggae Geel is near a NATURAL AREA and agricultural area. Litter damages the natural environment of the festival.

ACTION 7: USE OF RESIDUAL WASTE BAGS AND PET BAGS SEPARATELY ON THE CAMPSITE

You get a grey bag or a blue bag when you enter the campsite or at the ECO collection point.

The blue bag = PET = plastic, cans, drink cartons, aluminium

The grey bag = residual waste = napkins, food waste, everything that is NOT allowed in the PET

Glass is not allowed at Reggae Geel

ACTION 8: COLLECT YOUR WASTE ON THE CAMPSITE AT OUR ECO COLLECTION POINT

On the campsite there is a collection point for your waste. You can get an ECOGADGET designed by REGGAE GEEL in exchange for bin bags for PET and/or residual waste. You will find the collection point at the right side of the camping grounds (once inside). The opening hours are:

  • Friday 5 August 2022: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday 6 August 2022: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday 7 August 2022: 9am-12pm
